Event description

Description

Impact Alamance invites our grantees and community partners to learn from Rachel Muir, a highly sought after, engaging fundraising speaker and trainer. During this half-day workshop, Rachel will cover the topics of getting boards to fundraise, storytelling, the art of the ask, and fundraising myths debunked. Participants will also receive Rachel's free ebook "Make Over My Board!"

AGENDA

7:45 - 8:00 am - Hot Breakfast Buffet and Coffee

8:00 am - Welcome

8:15 am – 11:00 am “Get Your Board on Board”

During this lively and interactive 3 hour session, participants will lean proven tested strategies to:

• Recruit board members, perform onboarding, and set expectations for service.

• “Right” a board culture gone wrong and make board meetings more productive and meaningful

• Create a graceful exit for board members who need to go.

• Empower board members to confidently have meaningful conversations with donors

• Bust common myths board members often have about fundraising

Participants will be invited to complete a mad-libs style “Get Your Board on Board” quiz with fill in the blank questions about the session content. One winner will be rewarded with a $20 Starbucks, Amazon or Sephora gift card. All participants will be able to download the session slides as well a free eBook, Makeover My Board! That includes a sample board template.

11:00 AM – 11:45 AM Why Storytelling is The Ultimate Weapon

A powerful story makes your case in an unforgettable way that can dramatically grip your donor and engage them in your cause. We’ll demonstrate powerful storytelling makeovers, break down the anatomy of a story, offer tips on nurturing a great pipeline of stories from your front lines, and share unique formats for sharing great stories with your donors that fulfill donor’s desires to feel appreciated, included and in the know. This highly illustrated workshop includes an interactive activity where attendees draft their own story using a storytelling template.
