Discover the Beauty of Four Seasons with Minhwa!
About this event
Welcome to our new Korean art workshop series, Minhwa Workshop: Discover the beauty of 4 seasons with Minhwa! We're pleased to announce that KCI Board member and Minhwa artist, Kate Nam, will be presenting a series of 4 Minhwa drawing workshops throughout the year 2021. The workshop will be limited to 6 people at each time to maximize your learning experience.
The second workshop of the series is called Summer edition, Peach. During the workshop, participants will learn Minhwa painting techniques. Peach is a summer fruit that symbolizes longevity. It is one of the 십장생 (Ten Symbols of Longevity) and the most popular subjects in Minhwa. Workshop participants will paint a Minhwa on Korean traditional fiber paper specially treated and glued on a wooden panel. Once completed, you can utilize your own Minhwa work to decorate your room in Summertime. This session will run for approximately 90 minutes.
Kate prepared Minhwa starter kits that can be purchased on her website. Students retaking the Minhwa workshop will have the option to purchase the Additional painting set. Registered participants will be required to purchase the kit to participate in the workshop.
Prior to joining the workshop, all the participants are required to prepare the sketch on their own. Materials you will need are included in the Kit and how-to-video will be shared once you have completed the registration. The sketch process will take about 30 minutes.
