We are currently holding an Open House and Tour on the Games MOOC server.
Since it's about to begin at 1 pm ET, you can watch it through the livestream on the Games MOOC YouTube channel.
At the ISTE 2013 conference, the most popular virtual world was a 8 bit design ……wait for it…….lego looking….. user created sandbox genre game known as MINECRAFT. It’s easy to understand the appeal – Minecraft is easy to access and fun to create in. At the Special Interest Group - Virtual Environments (SIGVE) Open House and the SIGVE Playground, educators continually stopped and told us of its popularity and also how they had just started an after school club. So a few educational group banded together after the conference and built up areas on a server in less than a week and held the first open house on July 13, 2013. Minecraft is a virtual environment that this collaborative group of connected educators will continue to explore, create, build and and play in during 2013 and 2014. So come join us at our open house and discussion!
Educators from the Games MOOC, rgMOOC, ISTE Special Interest Group - Virtual Environments (SIGVE) and Inevitable Instructors will be present as tour guides and discussants. Come explore and also help us choose the topics for the Minecraft, MMOs and More UnSymposium we are planning for December 6 and December 7, 2013.
There is limited space on the server, so for those who register once space has filled, you will be able to watch the livestream of the event.
