Event Details

Join us in this first-ever meeting for both parents and school-aged children!  The folks from Techno Chaos will provide an overview of the Minecraft system and application architecture.  We will then dig into the Java code of Minecraft and provide insights into how to ‘make sense’ out of the code available to you to mod Minecraft.

You will need to bring your own laptop for you and your child (preferrably 3rd grade or older) to share, and you'll need to do some prep work ahead of time by following the setup instructions in the PDF located at  https://www.facebook.com/download/preview/1482649088692169  It is possible that the version of Minecraft we will be using may end up being a newer version.  Any changes / updates will be communicated before the meeting.

Pizza and soda will be provided courtesy of our meeting sponsor, Element Blue.

Jeanette Breton is the owner of Techno Chaos and loves to inspire young minds to learn and innovate through programs at Techno Chaos. She has over 25 years in the technology industry either as a programming, business consultant, product manager and teacher. She is a graduate of Texas A&M with a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering.

Mason Lary joined Techno Chaos a year ago as an avid programmer, has been programming for three years, and is currently Techno Chaos' Programming Lead. He has worked primarily with Java, AS3 and Scratch, and is currently working with C# in Unity in preparation for our Game Design summer camp. Mason will be majoring in Comp Science and EE at Rice in the fall.
