ART & DESIGN

JENDA MICHL Principal / Vertu Studio - @vertustudio
What if Nature Designed Buildings?
It's proven that we can now build any shape building we can imagine, and with rapidly advancing fabrication tools it will only get easier. So why are such buildings essentially giant sculptures, serving little functional benefit to their users and context as a result of their crazy shapes? What would buildings look like if their shape was determined by what would, literally, function best for their developers, users, the city, and of course, the planet?

ANDREA TSENG Digital Artist / Designer @ Freelance / Self-Employed - andreatseng.com
Don't Trod on those Sidewalk Weeds!
There might be...little plant people? Tiny Stewards is an environmental (in more than one sense of the word) art project involving characterized art toys that explores how we can reconnect with the natural world in the city. This project is in its seedling stages so I'm looking for feedback as well as possible collaborations!

MIRABELLE JONES Artist / Art Against Assault - @smoofy
Art to End the Silence
For the past few years, I have been working actively to use art as a method of speaking out against sexual assault and street harassment. JARRING III is a set of letterpress hand-made books in an edition of 50 that share the true narratives of 22 survivors of sexual assault in order to create a permanent archive and raise funds for rape crisis centers.

MICHAEL HOGAN Agile UX & Product Design Coach / Boeing - @mch82
Creating Living Solutions

How do the most successful designers create solutions? In this 3-minute talk I'll share the latest findings and innovation model from a decade of research by Dr. Gerry Nadler at USC. The talk will feature highlights from our new book, "Living Solution", and a USC course we taught in fall 2013.

ALEXA MEADE Artist / alexameade.com - @alexameade
I Paint People
I am a multimedia artist and recently one of my projects has been using people as my canvas, often in public spaces. This talk will explore parts of my art practice that I have never shared in public talks and may never share again.

.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

LIANA BANDZIULIS Photographer / Here Let Me Show You - @LAAgentCupcake
DataMining Yourself
Okay, we all know big companies and big government mine a TON of data about us. But how much do we know about *ourselves*? Here's some tools on how to data mine yourself, the pros and cons, and why it's important to understand yourself in the way the data world sees you.

SETH DORFMAN Postdoctoral Researcher / UCLA
Why Plasmas are "Hot Stuff"
Come hear why the fourth state of matter is the fourth state that matters! Cool (I mean hot) things you can do with knowledge of plasmas include fusion energy, space exploration, and semiconductor etching.

WENDIE COLTER President / The Practical Path - @PracticalPathUS
Medical Intuition - The Science Of Spirit
A recent shocking statistic from the Mayo Clinic determined that 26-44% of medical cases are misdiagnosed annually in the U.S. Medical Intuition has a high accuracy rate and is at the cutting edge of health and wellness care. I have taught and practiced this modality for over 15 years.

CHRIS HUGHES Hacker in Residence / Technicolor - @chews
The Livingroom Of Tomorrow

I've been tasked with inventing the livingroom of the future for technicolor. Combining sensors, smartlights, smartphones, and the human element innovators are changing common human interactions, like turning on a light.

ASHLEY BOOTH Oceanographer / City of Los Angeles - Instagram @jaboo28
Altering Consciousness And Perception
What are all the ways humans have discovered to alter our normal consciousness and perception of our inner and outer world? Come with me on an adventure to look at the mundane and bizarre as we learn about science, consciousness, and societal repercussions. Topics will include marijuana, meditation, hypnosis, sensory deprivation and more!

.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

ALEX LIGHTMAN Chairman / Everblaze Energy - @lxlightman
A New Way To Achieve 100% Renewable Energy
New exponentially improving technologies will enable us to end the use of fossil fuels for food, energy and transportation by 2030.

JOHN MICHAEL THOMAS Co-Founder / Keadle - @jmtasu
The Active Life Versus The Passive Life
How we have a moral responsibility to create technology that helps us enhance real world experiences, instead of helping us escape from them.

HAROLD TAN Grid Liberator / SunJack Solar Charger - @haztan
Local Solar With Global Impact
Before we begin to free ourselves from the grid, lets start with communities that are already isolated. We're working on portable solar power solutions that empower rural communities.

LORA IVANOVA Co-Founder / myLAB - @GenieEffect
Safe Should Be Sexy Not Awkward

My startup, myLAB Box, is currently in private beta and getting ready for launch within 1-2 months. It is the first service enabling users to take the guesswork out of safe sex by screening for STDs at home! Excited to share more about this truly disruptive model aiming to transform a sterile and inefficient system into a source of personal power.

ANDREW MCGREGOR CEO / Symbiobotics - @Drewtube99‎
Symbiobotics & Social Robotics
Animals, Robots, and Humans working together!

★★ MUSICAL PERFORMANCE ★★

.

PHILLIP KING / HARPIST

Phillip began his career producing hip hop music for kung fu movies. After realizing that he was able to play the harp without ANY formal training, he began to use his skills to advance more peaceful goals. Critics have anointed him as a heavenly harpist, capable of chasing all sorts of demons away with his beautiful sounds.

-- Fast Company

A forum for human technology in its most literal form - shared knowledge. Fueled by fancy pastries, an exceptionally well-stocked open bar and a room abuzz with stylish people.
-- The LA Times

If you haven't been to a Mindshare LA event, you haven't seen Angelenos at their eclectic best.
-- FlavorPill

A forward-thinking cultural salon. New ideas flow as liberally as the alcohol.

This is what it would be like if the internet jumped out of the box and grabbed your arm for a trip into Alice's Wonderland of ideas and madmen.
