Help us plant for children and youth's future.
Join us on May 27, at 6 pm at the Forest City National Golf Club for a Spring dinner for mental health and education.
Good Neighbors Canada is joining hands with Western University’s Faculty of Education to improve the quality of life for children, youth and families through mental health and educational support, locally and globally.
🌸 As a keynote speaker we will have Dr. Colin King, Director of the Child and Youth Development Clinic (CYDC) - Western Education.
🌸 Welcome remarks will be done by Amanda L. Kennedy, Founder of Kuwahs^nahawi “in her name they carry” Indigenous Social Enterprises and Yotuni Charitable Initiative (both based on her Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames).
🌸 Instead of a silent auction, we will have a #Goods4Causes table with different sustainable products from our cooperatives.
🌸 We will also have live music (entertainer to be announced soon).
🌸 Flower wall for exciting indoor garden pictures.
🌸 Three-course meal.
🌸 This is an opportunity to help children abroad and at home.
🌸 There will be a a showcase of assessment tools and graduate work used at the clinic.
We will be raising funds for two causes, one here in Canada and one abroad, both rooted in early interventions. We want to make sure children and youth can thrive and grow with solid foundations to create a better future.
50% of all Minds in Bloom proceeds will go to La Palangana Primary School in Guatemala and the other 50% will go to the Child and Youth Development Clinic, in London, Ontario.
-Local cause: the Child and Youth Development Clinic here in London, ON. New to the community, the CYDC has supported over 500 children and youth (3 to 18 years old) with mental health and educational needs in two short years, filling a mental health service gap. A self-referring clinic, they provide high-quality and affordable consultation, assessment, and intervention services to the community, including London's most vulnerable families. We want to help children get the care they need, regardless of their economic background.
-International cause: Save a School Guatemala. La Palangana Primary School in El Cedro doesn't have enough space for its 326 students (5 to 12 years old), so the children have to share packed classrooms and even whiteboards. There is no electricity. Some of the classrooms are made of iron sheets and they leak when it rains. Studying at a makeshift school can increase mental health issues for youth at any age. We want to build new classrooms, provide electricity and replace all 326 damaged desks.
Get your tickets while they last. On sale until May 17th.
