Event description

Description

Mindfulness, Self-Compassion and Resiliency in Modern Life Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), developed by researcher Dr. Kristin Neff and clinician Dr. Chris Germer, combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional wellbeing and resilience in the face of life’s challenges. Mindfulness is the first step—turning with loving awareness toward difficult experience (thoughts, emotions, and sensations). Self-compassion comes next—bringing loving awareness to ourselves. Together, mindfulness and self-compassion comprise a state of warm, connected, presence during difficult moments in our lives. This workshop will offer an overview of the MSC program, a few select mindfulness and self-compassion practices, and an opportunity to ask questions and explore how self-compassion might provide an antidote to our tendency toward self-criticism, perfectionism and shame.
