Mindfulness Part III: Therapeutic Mindfulness With Clients
Part III: THERAPEUTIC MINDFULNESS WITH CLIENTS
Mindfulness is the philosophy and and practice of being focused and in the moment. It is sometimes defined as "The Art of Being Fully Present".
When using mindfulness as a therapeutic tool, clinicians are able to help their clients tame distracting and distorting thoughts and focus in on the immediacy of the moment. Mindfulness therapy has been validated in medical and psychological studies to bring a positive effect on reducing stress and enhancing coping skills when dealing with medical illnesses, addiction issues and day to day life stressors.
In this third and final workshop of this Mindfulness series at the Brightview on New Canaan, we will focus on mindfulness treatment modalities for clients experiencing mood disorders, chronic medical and pain issues and (yes) - the psychiatric issue of hoarding disorder! Mindfulness based elder care will also be reviewed. Case examples and treatment exercises will be presented.
