Event description

Description

The Mindfulness Now course provides in-depth teaching on all major aspects of mindfulness practice. It was developed by the UK College of Mindfulness Meditation and incorporates aspects of the nationally-recognised Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. It also includes unique original content and is accredited by the British Psychological Society.

The course is held over 4 Saturday mornings, starting at 10am, on the following dates:

- Saturday 7th April - Saturday 21st April - Saturday 12th May - Saturday 9th Jun

Who is it for?

The course is suitable for anyone that is experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, physical or emotional pain, or is feeling stuck or uncertain about their present situation or the future. It is also suitable for anyone who wants to develop greater self-awareness and to have greater understanding and control of their feelings and emotions. It can help participants to identify positive changes in any aspect of their life, and to take action to bring about those changes. It will help participants to develop acceptance and a non-judgmental attitude towards themselves and others.

What happens in the Mindfulness Now Course?

The course is structured so as to introduce mindfulness in a gentle and encouraging manner. Each week builds on learning in the previous weeks.

The teacher will provide instructions and lead practice in a wide range of mindfulness techniques which will include breathing, gentle movement, meditation, visualisation and sensory awareness.

The teacher will give talks and lead discussion on the ‘mindfulness attitudes’ and participants will be able to contribute as much or as little as they are comfortable in doing. The teacher may also read stories, poetry or extracts from books that are relevant to the teachings.

Mindfulness Now includes some unique elements that are not found in other mindfulness programmes, in particular The Gift, which provides a wonderful opportunity to bring everything that has been learned together, with other participants, at the end of the course.

The home practice is a significant part of the course and the teacher will provide instruction on the exercises and practices to be undertaken in between the weekly classes.

There is time in every class for participants to ask questions.

Who is the teacher?

The course is led by Tony O’Shea-Poon, an experiened coach, facilitator and practitioner of Mindfulness. Tony is trained to deliver the nationally recognised Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy courses and is licensed by the UK College of Mindfulness Meditation to deliver Mindfulness Now, which is accredited by the British Psychological Society.

How much time does it take?

The full course is 12 hours in duration.

Daily practice of at least 15 minutes between sessions is recommended, along with completion of the exercises set for each week of the course.

How much does it cost?

£150 for the entire course (This is the Early Bird rate if booked at least 3 weeks in advance).

Participants will receive handouts and will be given access to online digital audio recordings and other resources, which are included in the fee.

Graduates of the course will be given access to additional online resources.

Where is it held?

All classes and courses are held at The Quaker Centre, Downhead Park, Milton Keynes, MK15 9BH.
