Event description

Description

Join us for Mindfulness Meditation on Saturday mornings at 10 am at the Hoboken Museum. Each session will include 45 minutes of meditation practice, plus time for questions and discussion. The class will offer strategies for using mindfulness, or being present in the moment, to help with stress relief, focusing the mind, and enhancing positive well-being. Breathing techniques and guided relaxation will be followed by a period of silent meditation.

Each class costs $10 per person per session, payable at the door. Please reserve a spot in advance. Open to beginners as well as people who have an established meditation practice who would like to sit with a group. Bring your own accessories (cushion, zafu, zabuton, etc.) if desired. Chairs will be provided. People of all faiths are welcome. NOTE: There will not be a class offered on March 21 or April 11 or 18.

Lindsey R. Swindall, Ph.D., is a professor at Stevens Institute who teaches U.S. History and the Freshman Colloquium. She holds a 200-hour multi-faith and interdisciplinary certification in Meditation and Contemplative Practices from the Open Center in NYC. She has practiced meditation for over 20 years and has led a mindfulness group for faculty, staff, and students in the College of Arts and Letters at Stevens for three years.
