Description

The ups and downs of everyday life, like waves on water, can be choppy - causing your stomach to churn. Or, the water can be calm like the surface of a lake on a windless day.

Daily ordinariness provides you many opportunities to be with whatever the current weather system is in your life.


The stresses of not knowing what the weather will be . . . and of not wanting it to be this, but only that, can drain you, sucking you into the undertow of uncertainty, struggle, and disappointment.


Learning to ride the waves of your experience is to know the beauty and freedom of being alive.

The skill of observing your own weather patterns of mood and mindset is known as ‘being with what is.’ This ability is what keeps you steady and prevents you from going overboard.


With basic mindfulness practices we train our attention to notice the noisiness of our self-chatter. For example, it shouldn’t be so windy today,’ or ‘it’s too hot/cold and I don’t like it,' or 'they shouldn't have done xyz."


And, you can choose to not get caught up in it.


You can explore the art of letting go of your attachments to how things ‘should be’ vs. ‘how they are.’


In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn the skills to ride the waves of your experience by attuning your attention to your physical sensations. You may not be aware of all the sensations that impact you and influene your thoughts. (The body informs the mind, not the other way around. Surprised?)


You’ll practice observing your thoughts and emotions as simple events that come and go.

You’ll explore what takes you off course, potentially derailing you e.g. various mindsets, external events, mood states, and patterns that make you feel stuck or frustrated.

You’ll learn urge surfing, working with your tendency to act on impulse, and tap your body’s wisdom to bring you back to the moment - giving you time and room to choose your response.

You’ll practice the essential skill in navigating any of life’s weather and learn the brain science behind why it works.

You’ll experience the importance of your body as a resource to bring you back to the moment of life’s inevitable ups and downs.


Learning all of these skills are in support of you showing up the way you want to - for your partner, co-workers, kids, and yourself.


This workshop may be for you if you:

  • Want to learn new tools for working with yourself when you get stuck
