What is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction ("MBSR")?
Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre, MBSR is based on a form of meditation known popularly as "mindfulness meditation". Much more than a stress reduction program, many participants report life-changing benefits from participation in the course, as outlined below.

Mindfulness training is a systematic process capable of cultivating the clarity, insight and awareness that leads to an incredible range of benefits. This course helps you navigate the highly pressured and always-on modern world successfully, be resilient and better able to make optimal choices both at work and in your personal life.
Over the past 30 years, scientific research all over the world suggest that training in MBSR can positively and often profoundly affect participants' ability to live life fully even in the midst of difficulties, to reduce "psychological distress" and "automatic reactivity", thereby bringing one's best self to each moment of their lives. Whether you are stressed, anxious or merely wishing to optimise your life, this program could well be for you.

Course Content

The program comprises 8 weekly sessions of 2.5 hours plus an all day retreat.

The program is highly experiential, supportive, and structured. It is "practice oriented" rather than theoretical in nature. Participants will undertake a number of practices including guided progressive training in mindfulness meditation, simple mindful yoga, reflective journaling, mindful communication in pairs and groups, as well as teacher-led elements. A manual is provided together with access to recorded guidance for use during home assignments. You will learn both formal and informal practices which you can use any time.
