Mindfulness is a powerful practice that gives you the tools to build a foundation of clarity and calm in the midst of life's rockiest times. From this place of stability, you can engage the challenges and joys of life with a renewed sense of energy and balance. Mindfulness also opens up the possibility of more choices, enabling you to meet each stressful situation more skillfully and with increased flexibility and creativity.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, (MBSR), is a unique program developed to help people bring more mindfulness into their lives. A natural remedy for stress, mindfulness will greatly improve your stress management abilities. Mindfulness techniques help you relieve stress in all areas of your life, including work stress, interpersonal stress, parenting stress and anything life throws at you!

In this eight week program developed at by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School you will:

  • Be guided to establish your own unique mindfulness practice
  • Learn techniques that can help you address the physical and emotional symptoms of stress
  • Improve the overall quality of your life

Mindfulness classes are highly experiential; helping students understand the causes of stress, how stress affects the mind and body, and how mindfulness can help reduce its negative effects. During the course you will become familiar with a wide range of formal and informal mindfulness practices including:

  • Body Scan
  • Sitting Meditation
  • Walking Meditation
  • Mindful Movement
  • Eating Meditation
  • Routine Activities at Work and at Home

By participating in all of these different practices you can easily find the one that is right for you and your lifestyle.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Class Details

Course is held on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM beginning September 19, 2017

Each of the eight weekly sessions lasts 2 ½ hours with one additional daylong session offered after the sixth week of the course, on October 28th. The daylong session provides participants the unique opportunity to incorporate all they have learned into an extended practice period.

  • Price includes practice CDs and a workbook
  • Attendance at a Free Information/Orientation Session is STRONGLY recommended, and will be held on Tuesday September 12, 2017 at 6:00 PM
  • A limited number of partial scholarships are available
  • Payment plans are available
  • Advanced registration is required
