Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course

The course is designed around the methods by taught Jon Kabat-Zinn and Rik Center’s mindfulness and trauma background, his work and training. Participants will be learning mind/body awareness techniques and gaining tools that allow for more ease in dealing with daily stress, anxieties, physical ailments and emotional symptoms due to unresolved trauma and/or illness.
Areas of difficulty we may notice:
Depression, Irritability, Worry/Grief , Panic, Chronic Pain, Stress, Frustration, Burn-out, Anxiousness, Headaches/Migraines, Fatigue, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Psoriasis, Job and/or Family Stress, Fibromyalgia, Sleep Disturbances, inability to deal with illness and other constant stressors.
Participants of the program report an increased ability to cope with stressful situations and less anxious.
Course Content: Experiential exercises, group discussions and somatic mindful awareness teachings. Participants learn about habituated reactions to stress related anxieties and how to change their response. The MBSR/Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course was featured on the Bill Moyers’ special, “Healing And The Mind.”
Course Fee: $295.00 + 55.00 for class materials; Includes workbook, two mindfulness meditation CD’s and copy of “Full Catastrophe Living” by Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Facilitated by Rik Center, Co-Founder of the MCC/Mindfulness Care Center. He's a trained and certified SE/Somatic Experiencing Stress and Trauma Counselor/Practitioner and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher utilizing embodied practices in the healing process. He began a Buddhist mindful meditation practice in the late 80’s and leads the ongoing MCC Tuesday Evening Mediation Group. Rik served as a Buddhist/Interfaith Chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital and he presently sits on the Professional Advisory Group for Spiritual Care at the CPMC/Sutter Health Hospitals in San Francisco. He works one-on-one clients in his private practice which focuses on healing high levels of stress, unresolved traumatic anxiety and PTSD along with offering grief and spiritual counseling. He's a member of the USABP/United States Association Of Body Psychotherapy.
*Information For Continuing Education Units/ CEU’s:
This Course meets the qualifications for 24 hours of continuing education credit for licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC), and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP) as required by CAMFT/California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Mindfulness Care Center Provider #128625. There is a $30 Certificate Fee required.
CEU Certificates will be awarded after completion of the aforementioned program. Upon verification of program completion, certificate will be presented or emailed to recipient.
Refund/Cancellation Policy: Course must be fully completed in-order to receive full CEU credits.Refund/Cancellation Policy: Refund or Cancellation of this Course must be received in writing or by email in-order to receive refund. If the request is received prior to 4-days before the course begins the entire fee is refunded. There is a $50 non-refundable fee if registration is cancelled 4 days prior to the class beginning. Program fee is non-refundable after the 2nd week of class. If the class is dropped within the 2nd week, refunds are prorated by week.
Any grievance of attendee seeking accreditation must be received in writing and MCC will respond within a reasonable, ethical and timely manner.
