What is Mindfulness and why I need it?


This workshop is for those who would like to know what mindfulness is, for those who tried it and it didn’t work and for those who are already enjoying being mindful and want to move to the next level.
"Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t)."
Mindfulness is the awareness that emerges through paying attention to whatever our
experience is at each moment. This sounds very simple and it is simple. Difficulty lies in reminding yourself to be mindful. We are constantly busy in getting somewhere, in achieving something that we are forgetting to reserve some time for simply being. Another difficulty in cultivating mindfulness lies in the quality of the mind. The mind likes to wander. The mind likes to engage with different kind of thoughts to keep us busy. Through mindfulness, we train our minds to not get caught into our thoughts. However, we do not try to control our thoughts, but rather, we take a step back, we
observe them, acknowledge them, and let them go.


Mindfulness is the ability of creating a space in your “head”, a space which is focused on the present moment in the present place, without judging yourself for what you do or who you are. It sounds easy and natural, but nowadays, all the distractions around us lead us more towards thinking either the future, by ruminating an overwhelming sequel of to-do lists in our heads, or in the past, by thinking again and again what we did wrong and why. However, mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

Our guest facilitator, Kasia Sikora, psychologist and mindfulness trainer, has specialized in techniques that will help you stay grounded, in the present moment and compassionate with yourself.

In this workshop we will:
  • learn how to practice mindfulness
  • learn to identify when you are not in the present moment or when you are in a negative mindset
  • learn how to get in touch with our senses, breathe properly and relax our body muscles
  • learn how to realize our emotions and thoughts, accept them and create some space around them in order to realise them
  • learn how to slow down and not put extra pressure on our self
  • learn how to practice being curious and enjoy life’s pleasures
