Event description

Description

The holidays can be full of joy and connection, but for many they can also be stressful and challenging. Self-compassion practices can support you to cope with stress, improve challenging relationships, and build resilience.

Who is this workshop good for? Anyone. Self compassion is ideal for helping professionals who may struggle with burnout and compassion fatigue. It is equally beneficial for clients who may be excessively critical and hard on themselves. Most of us find it easy to offer kindness to a friend who is struggling. Imagine what it would be like to provide that same kindness to yourself.

Beginning a self-compassion practice can support you to show up for friends, family and yourself this season.

In this 2-hour workshop we will cover:

  • What self-compassion is and what it is not

  • Misgivings of practicing self-compassion

  • Research and benefits of practicing Self-compassion

  • Practices you can take with you to support you through the holidays and beyond

This workshop is based upon and provides an introduction to the 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion course, created by Dr. Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer.

Workshop facilitators:

- Norma Rubio, UCLA-trained mindfulness and meditation educator (IMTA Certified

- Cori Rosenthal, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and meditation and mindfulness educator
