Event description

Description

Discover a mindful approach to the art of photography in the beautiful natural surroundings of Heath Farm Holiday Cottages, lovingly converted from old stone farm buildings around a stunning courtyard set in 70 acres of woodland and wild flower meadows in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

Slow down and take a fresh look at the world around you. Learn to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, while taking nurturing time out for you, reducing stress and improving your wellbeing.

In a small group, you’ll spend time outdoors in nature, exploring themes such as colour, texture, form, light, reflection, growth, change and transition while creating photos. You’ll think about your relationship with the natural and built environment, rediscover your creativity, and learn to see the world differently.

All our workshops are simple, low-tech and fun. You don’t need a fancy camera or expensive equipment – any mobile phone, tablet or digital camera will do – and sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities.

You will be welcomed by Farm Estate Manager Mon Barbour and start off in one of the six cottages at Heath Farm, exploring how to look and see differently, before going on a gentle walk around the grounds, woodland and lake, taking photos in a calm and mindful way.

Here are some testimonials from previous workshop participants:

“A good reminder to slow down and make each photo count or mean something. The workshop reminded me to see the beauty in things I would normally walk past and not notice.” Marcus Clark

“I am a photographer, but get so habitual. This was a nice excuse to explore. A great reminder to sit in the now. The day is fun and easy. Ruth makes you feel like you can just enjoy, explore with no rules.” Holly Mitchell

“Such a lovely workshop, bringing together two areas I feel really passionate about – basic techniques of mindfulness and photography. I have always found photography relaxing but maybe not realised why. Now Iwill be able to build on this and enjoy my hobby even more.” Hannah Bemand

“Well paced and flexible in approach. I learnt to allow calm to come to me rather than strive to achieve something." Debbie Fildew

“I liked the low-key, no pressure atmosphere and non-technical vibe." Tim Perris

I really look forward to meeting you.
