Event description

October 27 to October 30, 2016

Thursday Evening, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Where Popular Science Meets Practical Wisdom

This small group experiential workshop will introduce health care professionals, educators and clients to the science and rehabilitation potential of the quiet mind. Two full days of interactive and experiential science based learning followed by one full day of self-care is designed to provide a fundamental knowledge base and an introduction to your own practice in mindfulnes and meditation. In this program you will explore the power of "you" as the first and most powerful step in mindfully helping others. You will expand and renew a connection with your self so that you may begin to share this authentic mindful experience with your clients/students.

Participants will leave this workshop with a basic understanding of the science behind meditation and mindfulness principles, cognitive behavioral strategies for reducing stress and a personal vision for engaging the journey of awareness and presence as a powerful practice in mindfully supporting your clients.

“The process of discovering and embracing our own authentic self is the foundation of extending true healing to others”          Donna-Lee Zmenak

Testimonials/Here is what past attendees are saying:

"You have shared so much with me and made such a difference in my life…I cannot express enough gratitude, but I trust that you feel it "

"Thank you for a wonderful and inspiring workshop. I have been meditating and doing my best to practice mindfulness. My mind sure likes to wander though!......And years of reacting with anger to minor frustrations in life is a hard habit to break. At least I am now mindful of it and realize that is a first step in the process of change"

"Thank you so much for the weekend. I feel like a happier more energized person. I have been telling all of my SLP friends about it! I would be interested in the retreat. Thanks so much for this idea. Take Care!"

"Thank you so much for such an amazing weekend!  You have truly changed me.  I never thought that it was possible to delve so deep and experience the tremendous effects that meditation and mindfulness can have.  Getting back to “reality” I have definitely had some moments that have challenged me, but at least now I know how to step back and get through them (or just observe).  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

"I wanted to share again how touched I am by what I learned from you. Thanks again. It has been so meaningful in my life. I miss everyone that was there so much and wish they could be in my life every day. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who were so open and honest"

“I have taken the MBSR {Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction} formal training and this is very different yet offers the similar techniques and content.  You teach and inspire from the heart what a wonderful experience to go to a professional workshop and feel great afterwards. I can now use this to inspire myself and my clients”
