Mind Hacking is a mindset or orientation that begins with the understanding that we can reprogram our inner operating system. In other words that we can transform our human experience--from limited identities, to blocked emotions, to old storylines--using the mind itself.
Over the course of this 2-hour interactive workshop we’ll explore the basics of the mind hacking ethos as well as practice both silent and social forms of meditation. There will be plenty of time for fine-tuning and questions as we journey into a process of hacking the mind, awakening the heart, and rebooting the world.
Vincent Horn is a mind hacker & buddhist geek. He has been practicing meditation intensively since his freshman year in college—including a full year doing intensive silent retreat practice. He began teaching in 2010 with the encouragement of his own teachers, Kenneth Folk and Daniel Ingram. In addition, in 2006, Vincent co-founded the popular media company Buddhist Geeks, which has since been featured on the pages of the Los Angeles Times, Fast Company, and Tricycle. Vincent was also honored to be part of Wired UK’s “Smart List 2012: 50 people who will change the world.” Along with his wife and creative partner Emily Horn, he makes his home in Asheville, North Carolina—that is until the distinction between atoms and bits dissolves.
Emily Horn's teaching approach draws on the methods and practices of concentration, investigation (noting), meditative inquiry, choiceless awareness, and heart-based meditation. She is a meditation teacher, as well as operations director at Buddhist Geeks. Emily develops programming and support structures for people dedicated to living a contemplative life in the modern world. She has taught mindfulness classes at InsightLA, and is currently in the Insight Meditation Society and Spirit Rock Retreat Teacher Training led by Jack Kornfield, Trudy Goodman, and others. Emily has also managed projects in contemplative education environments including Naropa University, InsightLA, and Sounds True. She lives in Asheville, NC with her husband Vincent.
