Event Details

It has been a long road traveled, but we are finally ready to celebrate the opening of the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) Historic Learning Center (Bldg. 640 - 640 Mason Street., San Francisco, CA,  94129). The opening ceremony will be held at the MIS Historic Learning Center (Bldg. 640) along Crissy Field, near Sports Basement. The luncheon will be held at the Observation Post located in the Presidio near the Main Post (noon).

Indeed, it has been a longer number of years - when sixty US Army soldiers, mainly Japanese American Nisei, were secretly recruited to start a military intelligence language school. The survivors of this "first class" are now but a few, but their legacy and stories of valor will be embodied forever at the MIS Center.

At the ceremony, speakers will pay tribute to these Japanese American Nisei veterans, and will undoubtedly recognize the significance of the MIS Center as an educational center linking the MIS story to the broader Japanese American historical experience.

If you are coming in from out of town, we have a special room rate at Hotel Kabuki, located in San Francisco's Japantown. Click HERE to reserve a room.

The MIS Historic Learning Center (Bldg. 640) will be open on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 10:30 AM to 5 PM.
