Military Family Programs are for current and former military service members with children ages 3-18.

About this event

Military Family Program

Created for current and former military service members and their families, these programs include exploration of the Museum and related activities intended to engage the whole family. Programs take place at the Intrepid Museum and include take-home materials.

Technology and Codes

Discover the history of innovation and codes onboard the former aircraft carrier Intrepid! After exploring historic spaces, families can experiment with different technologies in their world.

All visitors must follow the Museum's health and safety guidelines. Following the City of New York’s Emergency Executive Order No. 225, all visitors 12 years of age and older must provide proof of at least one vaccination shot against COVID-19, as well as identification, before entering the Museum. Please bring proof and ID with you to the program. Please visit here or review the FAQ below for a list acceptable forms of proof of vaccination and ID.

More details about health guidelines and policies will be sent to all registrants ahead of the program, along with the social narrative. In the meantime, learn more here: intrepidmuseum.org/onboard-with-safety.

For more information about the Intrepid Museum's programs and resources for current and former service members and their loved ones, please visit intrepidmuseum.org/vets.

Veterans Programs are made possible by public funds facilitated by the New York City Council Committee on Veterans, in partnership with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. These programs are also supported by the Craig Newmark Philanthropic Fund. The Museum’s education programs are supported, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

FAQs

What will be accepted as proof of at least one dose of vaccination and of identification?

All visitors 12 years of age and older must provide proof of at least one vaccination shot against COVID-19, as well as identification, before entering the Museum.

The following will be accepted as proof of the receipt of vaccination:

  • A CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card from the jurisdiction, state or country where the vaccine was administered that reflects the person’s name, vaccine brand and date administered (or a digital or physical photo of the card);
  • A New York City COVID Safe Pass (available to download on Apple and Android devices);
  • A New York State Excelsior Pass

Identification means an official document bearing the name of the individual and a photo or date of birth. Examples of acceptable identification include, but are not limited to:

  • Driver’s license
  • Non-driver government ID card
  • IDNYC
  • Passport
  • School ID card

Are facemasks required?

All visitors age 2 and up will be required to wear masks in indoor spaces within the Museum complex. Vaccinated visitors will be permitted to remove their masks in outdoor spaces such as the pier and flight deck.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The Military Family Program is open to all U.S. military service members and veterans and their families. Veteran or Military ID is not required, though we ask participants to share very basic information about their branch and years of service. The program is designed for children ages 3-18 and their adult family members, although younger siblings are welcome.
