About this Event

Join KCPT-Kansas City PBS, in partnership with the American Jazz Museum, the National Archives at Kansas City, Bruce R. Watkins Center, and the Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group, 3:30 pm on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Gem Theater to explore the remarkable life of music legend Miles Davis (1926-1991). The event will feature a screening of the PBS documentary Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, ahead of its public broadcast on February 25 (8:00 pm on KCPT).

The central theme of Miles Davis’s life, and of this film, is his restless determination to break boundaries and live life on his own terms. This documentary feature explores archival photos and home movies shot by Davis and his colleagues, his manuscripts and original paintings, to explore the man behind the music. Featuring interviews with some of the most well-known musicians on the planet, the film explores why Davis continues to be a relevant voice in today's world.

The event is free to attend with open seating, but you must RSVP through Eventbrite.
