Mike Gibbons Cuban Art Exhibit and Live Performance
Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM (PDT)
Mike Gibbons recently returned from a trip to Havana, Cuba in which he delivered donated surfing equipment to a non-profit that promotes surfing in Cuba. Surfing has been historically banned by the Cuban government on the basis that surfboards could allow citizens to escape the island. Although authorities are beginning to allow people to surf, there are still no surf shops or places to acquire modern surf equipment in Cuba.
On June 15th, join us at Harmonia, the historic Sausalito building formerly known as The Record Plant, where Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Metallica, and Stevie Wonder, among many others, have all recorded over the years. Mike will be sharing his story about traveling to Cuba, hosting a fine art photography exhibition of images he took on his trip, as well as debuting a short film about the experience (Ola Libre--Free Wave) that he shot in conjunction with GoPro and Waterlust. After debuting the film, he will be performing with his full band from 7-8pm. Yummy Food truck, host bar, and Harmonia free chair massage will be available. Join us! All ages are welcome--$15 door or stay for the after party and hear more great music played by, Matt Jaffe, Cole Tate, and the Jamie Clark Band! The night will end at 1:00am.
