Mike Cohen

Michael H. Cohen leans on his unique background in jazz, Embodied Leadership and Dattatreya Spirituality to guide Kirtan participants through their hearts and into the Heart of the Divine. His music blends Eastern mantra and Western grooves in creative and accessible compositions Yoga Chicago Magazine described as “inspiring, addictive and highly-chantable." Through his Dattatreya Kirtan Institute (DKI), Mike has trained dozens of Kirtan Leaders since 2010 with a proven methodology based around three relevant domains of leading Kirtan – Musicianship, Embodied Leadership and Dattatreya Spirituality. The lives of DKI students unfold as they develop, producing Kirtan Leaders who are successful in the world, deep in their spirituality and fulfilled in their lives. DKI students have learned to serve others by sharing the experience of Kirtan, lead their band, grow their communities, write original chants, play at major Kirtan/Yoga festivals, complete Kirtan albums and much more.
