Event description
Join us for music and readings in an online celebration of poetic licence for the launch of Migrant Writes

About this Event

Migrant Writes is a collection of poetry and micro-stories, themed on finding family, written by a group of asylum seekers and refugees. They met at Migrants Organise and told their stories through workshops lead by ACE funded Writer in Residence, Kat Lewis. Their book is published by Vanguard Editions.

'Migrant Writes' is full of glinting, shocking detail: time is like a sharp knife, people are shared like pieces of chicken, and body pieces are collected up from the floor to form a self. There is magic here too, offered through myriad connections, and all the possibilities of hybrid communities. Beautifully curated and timely, yet never didactic, this is a book that will stay with me. NIKITA LALWANI
