The Michigan Oral History Association, announces Saturday, November 19 as the date of the Midwest Regional Oral History Forum. The event will be held at the Portage District Library from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
The Forum will bring together oral history practitioners and those interested in developing oral history projects. The agenda will include sessions on the basics of conducting an oral history project, the latest technology involved in conducting projects, and oral history in the classroom. A networking luncheon following the program will allow participants to connect, report on projects and share ideas.
The registration fee of $25 includes the forum, all materials, and a box lunch.
We also wish to let participants know about the Society for History And Racial Equity (SHARE) 2016 Summit on Racism, held Friday, November 18th at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The Summit will be free and open to the public and include breakout sessions on a number of topics, including a session on how oral histories can operate as vehicles for under-represented groups to control their own narratives.
