After 6 years of working with local food producers, Midwest Pantry is reorganizing to be a membership driven organization. We have proven time and again that the work that benefits Minnesota's local food creator community needs to be led by the local food creator community.
Midwest Pantry was founded after researching how other local food communities around the nation, such as Northern California, worked together to create opportunities for their members. It was clear that the gaps in the local food system needed to be solved by the people and businesses that work with that system daily. Midwest Pantry will continue to provide the framework for change and growth.
Midwest Pantry members will have the opportunity to continue this 'for us, by us' idealogy by paricipating in and sharing feedback about the networking, mentoring, educational, and sales events that Midwest Pantry will continue to organize. Members will get access to discounts to all these great events. An Advisory Board, made up of leaders that represent all aspects of Minnesota's food community will continue to shape the opportunites offered to ensure Midwest Pantry is able to continue responding to the changing needs of the food creator community as it continues to grow!
Over the course of 2016, Midwest Pantry will be working with our newly formed Advisory Board to create a new name and brand. We will find a new identity to embrace the momentum behind our state's new 'Bold North' branding direction, as well as include food creators from across Minnesota's entire local food ecosystem.
**Membership does not gaurantee acceptance to the Midwest Pantry Shows.
