The Suicide Epidemic & The Chaplain's Response

2019 saw over 228 Law Enforcement Officers and over 73 Firefighters/EMT's take their own lives.  As we enter 2020, what can First Response Chaplains do to help eliminate this epidemic?  How can we be effective as ambassadors of God to those First Responders we serve?

Our guest speaker this year is Vanessa Kennedy, founder and CEO of Code 1 Wellness.

Vanessa began her career in the medical field at the age of 18 and work in various medical facilities.  In 2009, she attended and graduated from the Police Academy and has over 10 years experience as a Law Enforcement Officer. Since the beginning of her career, Vanessa has shown an extreme interest in the CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) training and officer wellness.  That interest propelled her to found Code 1 Wellness in 2018.

Vanessa states, "As a member of Code 1 Wellness, it will be my privilege to stay at the cutting endge of mental health, in both terms of wellness and in support of our public servants."
