Join us for the Midwest’s first and only regional conference designed exclusively for animal rescues and shelters. Whether you're a part-time volunteer, executive director, foster coordinator, or shelter veterinarian, we have sessions for all levels of engagement that will offer cutting-edge lifesaving strategies hosted by national experts. If you want to learn how to save more parvo puppies, build a community cat program to decrease euthanasia, or reduce your length of stay with progressive adoption policies, we are here to connect you with a session and an experienced professional that can help. The conference offers an invaluable opportunity to network and form vital relationships with your colleagues that are facing the same challenges as you every day. We come together to celebrate your victories and to find solutions to common problems, because collectively we can save more lives and have happier animals while doing it.

In addition to our learning sessions, we will be hosting discussions on how we can elevate the impact of sheltering organizations across the Midwest through collaborative efforts. Join our round table discussions to brainstorm how building a rescue network in our region could help your organization. Do you need help with transport to move animals out of your shelter? Are you looking for a way to communicate with other professionals in our region for advice on hot topics, such as protocols for treating upper-respiratory disease, meeting the behavioral needs of dogs in the shelter, or building a big, bad marketing campaign? The conference will serve as an opportunity for us to lay the ground work for ongoing collaboration and networking that will help your organization save more animals.

The 2019 Midwest Animal Sheltering Conference will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Columbia, MO on October 19-20, 2019. An early bird registration rate of $79 will be available beginning June 1st, 2019, and your registration fee will include all sessions, access to exhibitors, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and the Saturday evening networking event at Logboat Brewing Company.

Hotel rooms will be available at the Hilton Garden Inn for $119 per night. Hotel registration is available at http://group.hiltongardeninn.com/MidwestAnimalShelteringConference.

Early Bird Registration (June 1 - July 14): $79

Regular Registration (July 15 - September 1): $99

Late Registration (September 2 - September 30): $119

Student Registration (June 1 - September 30): $65


Is there a limit on the number of people from my organization that can attend?

No! We want as many people as possible in your organization to benefit from the educational, networking, and collaborative opportunities at the conference. Having at least three attendees from your organization will enable you to maximize your participation as there will be mulitple sessions available at each time slot.

What options are available if cost is a prohibitive barrier for my organization to attend?

It’s our goal that this conference is accessible to everyone. In the event that you need assistance covering registration costs, please e-mail ak28b@mail.missouri.edu with the following information: attendee name, affiliated organization, position in the organization (e.g. volunteer/foster/program coordinator/director), one paragraph explanation about why you would like to attend and how it would help your organization, and the funding amount requested. We will do everything we can to find funding to help support your attendance.

What meals/events are included in the registration cost?

Lunch will be provided on both Saturday and Sunday, and the networking event on Saturday evening will include appetizers and a drink ticket.

Will there be dietary accommodations for allergies and dietary restrictions?

Yes, during the registration process we will collect any dietary needs that should be considered.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Transportation from the Columbia airport or around the city is available via Uber, Lyft, or taxi. Parking at the Hilton Garden Inn is free for all attendees.

What's the refund policy?

Unfortunately, no refunds will be available. In the event of an emergency, you may transfer your ticket to another attendee by notifying Abbie Knudsen via e-mail at ak28b@mail.missouri.edu. Please include the name on the original registration and the new attendee assuming the ticket on event day.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, it’s not necessary to bring a printed ticket to the event.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, we’re happy to allow an alternative attendee to assume your ticket on event day. Please notify Abbie Knudsen at ak28b@mail.missouri.edu should you need to make this adjustment.
