Event description

Description

Join us for a gala celebration of the youthful masterpieces and profound mature works by child prodigy, virtuoso pianist, and supremely gifted composer Felix Mendelssohn, whose Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream - written when he was just 17 - has been called “the greatest marvel of early maturity that the world has ever seen in music.”

Mendelssohn's exquisite compositions will be brought to life by violin prodigies, piano virtuosos, and mature master teachers of the renowned Heifetz Institute, with an ensemble and program that reflects the brilliance of Mendelssohn himself - full of youthful exuberance, masterful expression, and peerless musicianship.

Proceeds provide scholarship support for Heifetz Institute students, and further our mission of developing the expressive potential of the world's most extraordinary young musicians.

Program to include selections from:

Overture to a Midsummer Night's Dream

Octet for Strings

Piano Trio in D minor

String Quartet No. 6

Cello Sonata in D

Violin Concerto in E minor

A portion of each ticket purchase is tax deductible, and admission includes a post-concert reception in the Kreeger Lobby adjacent to the Abramson Family Recital Hall.

Free parking available in the Katzen Center garage.
