Middle Mile Volunteer Orientation
Description
Looking to make a difference in the community? Here’s a way you can go the extra mile by rescuing food and delivering it to hunger relief agencies so they can quickly get it to the one in six Central Texans facing food insecurity.
Middle Mile is a joint project of the Central Texas Food Bank, Keep Austin Fed, and Feeding America designed to pick up food from small/medium retailers, restaurants, hotels, farms, caterers, and similar businesses—perfectly good food that might otherwise go to waste—so it can help feed our neighbors in need.
To become a volunteer, you’ll need to attend this training and get a Texas food handlers permit, have a reliable personal vehicle (with valid insurance and driver’s license), and be able to lift about 30 pounds.
Becoming a Middle Mile volunteer is great a way to assist those in need while helping the environment by decreasing food waste.
Join us for one of the two available orientations. Both training sessions are on December 10, 2019.
