The New York State Prevention Agenda has identified reducing suicides and improving mental health as part of the State Prevention Agenda. In the Hudson Valley, the suicide rate is nearly 40% higher than prevention agenda target and the rate for poor mental health in the region is nearly 8% higher than the prevention agenda target. HealthlinkNY’s Health Action Priorities Network is looking to bring a diverse group of stakeholders together to aid in the development of a tool kit to help reduce the stigma around mental health issues and provide community members with the resources they need to help prevent suicides and improve overall mental health.
We hope you will consider joining us on Thursday December 15th for our kick-off meeting at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. Your valuable insight will help us create a meaningful community resource that people will use. Together we can improve the mental health of our region.
