Event Details

Microplastics are described as plastics smaller than 5 millimeters or 1/8th of an inch and they are now being found in water bodies all around us! UF/IFAS Extension Pinellas County has partnered with Florida Sea Grant on a new citizen science effort called the Florida Microplastics Awareness Project (FMAP). This class will include an introduction to microplastics and explain how you can get involved with FMAP. Through FMAP you can collect your own coastal water samples and analyze them on your own at one of our office locations! Then, you can enter and report your findings online, contributing to a state-wide database. Get involved with this new “emerging contaminant” (microplastics) and contribute to science today by participating in this class. Hope to see you there!

An equal opportunity institution.

UF/IFAS Extension provides practical education you can trust, to help people, businesses and communities solve problems, develop skills and build a better future.
