Micro-Shelter Foundation Build
Sat, March 25, 2017, 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM PDT
Songaia Co-housing Community is going to build two micro-shelters this summer to house permaculture interns (not a tiny home because it doesn't include utilities).
We are planning on using this design from Deek Diedricksen's book MicroShelters - with modifications - and using recycled materials whenever possible. The actual build workshop will take place Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st. Click here for more information on the build workshop.
On Saturday, March 25th we will prepare the foundation for the micro shelter construction
Since the location for the micro-shelter is on a bit of a slope, we will be building a pier foundation with a timber frame.
Cost: $40 ... or $10 plus recycled materials needed for the build.
What to expect from the workshop:
• A hands-on building experience building a simple pier foundation.
• At lunchtime we will have a chance to talk about the changes we made to this design and why and to share participants experience and knowledge about building shelters and tiny homes in our area.
What to bring to the workshop:
• Bring gloves.
• Dress for the weather.
• Bring any tools you think might be useful - label them and keep track of them.
• Lunch - we will provide a simple soup - bring something to go with soup to round out your lunch.
