Micro-Publications Workshop @ The New Digital School
As part of our pre-launch here in Porto, we've invited a couple of our guest educators to host some very special and exclusive workshops. Chris Murphy will be the first with his Micro-Publications Workshop.
What this workhop is about
Interaction design is all around us, it’s in the digital tools we use everyday: it’s on the web, it’s off the web; it’s in our pockets, it's on our wrists; it's at the tips of our fingers, it's even ready the moment we say, "Hey, Siri…," or "Alexa…," summoning a digital assistant to help us satisfy a need.
In short, it’s everywhere.
Interaction design is about shaping digital things for everyday people’s use. As interaction designers our role is almost always focused on content: everything we design has content at its heart. This short, sharp masterclass focuses on the world of 'Micro-Publications'. We'll explore how content is changing, or – more interestingly – how we consume content is changing.
Over the course of an afternoon we'll develop ideas for micro-publications, considering: content types (news? entertainment?); content frequency (daily? weekly?); and content platforms (phones? watches?). We'll conjure up ideas for platforms that - perhaps - don't exist yet. In a nutshell, we'll imagine the future.
You'll appreciate this workshop if you're interested in how communication design is changing and how the opportunities to connect with others is altering in an age of connected devices. The masterclass will be short, sharp and designed to provoke new thinking. Above all, it will be fun. I very much hope you'll join me and start to shape the future.
