Event description

Description

Sharpen your writing chops and tell the stories that are important to you!

In this six-week workshop, instructor and poet Carmella de los Angeles Guiol will guide students to make a long story short by getting down to the marrow to tell stories that are impactful and resonant.

We’ll study successful micro essays to see how published writers move their readers with words. Working from daily prompts, each session will result in a new piece of flash memoir or essay, which will be compiled into a chapbook at the end of the workshop.

Carmella de los Angeles Guiol is a Miami-based writer, educator and tropical fruit enthusiast. She is the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship in Colombia as well as Crab Orchard Review’s Charles Johnson Award for fiction. Her haiku about starfruits can be found at a Miami bus stop and stamped on a sidewalk. Keep up with her travels and her writing at www.carmellaguiol.com.

Participants will have a chance to share their work at a public reading at the end of the course.

Limited to 16 students.
