The Michigan Reentry Convening on July 12 at the Lansing Community College West Campus will bring together formerly incarcerated people, nonprofit service providers, advocacy organizations, and government agencies to:

  • Build shared understanding of the current state of reentry in Michigan and how we got here.
  • Learn from peers instate and around the country.
  • Develop a shared policy agenda to improve reentry in Michigan.
  • Create structures and mechanisms for advancing a policy agenda.
  • Build relationships among reentry advocates across the state.

Registration and breakfast options open at 8am. Morning sessions, starting promptly at 9am, will use plenary presentations and table discussions to build the shared understanding of the past and present of reentry services in Michigan necessary to move forward together.

Participants will break for lunch at 12pm, with a chance to network and stretch your legs. The afternoon sessions will give participants time to go deeper on themes such as housing, education and training, data and accountability, and physical and behavioral health support to develop an advocacy agenda and identify partners for future action.

The Center for Employment Opportunities, the State Appellate Defender Office, the Center for Justice Innovation, and the Michigan Collaborative to End Mass Incarceration are organizing the convening. This event is made possible with the generous support of the Michigan Justice Fund, an initiative of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.

Breakfast and registration 8-9am. Program begins at 9am.
