Greetings,

The Michigan Medicine ECMO Program is pleased to announce a Pediatrics and Adult ECMO Specialist Training Course, October 21-23, 2019.

You may register here.


This course is intended for the whole ECMO care team; Physicians, Perfusionists, NP's, Nurses, Respiratory therapists, and PA's.

The Michigan Medicine ECMO Program proudly presents an

Adult ECMO Specialist Training Course

October 21-23, 2019

Michigan Medicine

Ann Arbor, Michigan

This course is designed as an ECMO Specialist Training Course, incorporating every role for the treatment team including Physicians, Perfusionists, RN’s, Respiratory Therapists, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants, and is taught through both lectures and wet lab exercises. The course will cover the following topics:

  • Physiology of ECLS
  • Vascular access and cannulation techniques
    • Management of Anticoagulation
  • Bedside Management of VA ECLS
  • ECLS for Adult & Pediatric Cardiac Failure
  • Bedside Management of VV ECLS
  • ECLS for Adult & PediatricRespiratory Failure
  • Wet Lab Exercises (VV ECLS scenarios and VA ECLS scenarios)
  • Pharmacology
  • Coordinate appropriate ECMO equipment for individual institutional needs
  • Discern appropriate populations for ECMO
  • Discern appropriate cannulation strategies for ECMO
  • Coordinate a multidisciplinary care plan for ECMO patients
  • Perform daily maintenance ECMO duties
  • Coordinate advanced modalities such as transport and ambulation
  • Devise anticoagulation strategies

As a result of participating in this course, individuals will know and be able to implement into practice ECMO Techniques for initiating, managing, troubleshooting and discontinuing ECMO support.

The course fees are as follows:

The Pediatric course on October 21, 2019 has a fee of $ 850.00

The Adult course on October 22-23 2019, has a fee of $ 1825.00

Both Pediatric & Adult course combine October 21-23, 2019 have a fee of $ 2,325.00

All course fees include all course materials. Course size is limited in order to enhance learning and participation. Reservations will be accepted with a completed, signed registration entry and payment on a first-come, first-serve basis until the course is full.

What's the refund policy?

Refunds are accepted up to 7 days prior to course event. Refund will be issued minus a $200.00 restock fee.

Do I have to bring my printed registration to the course?

Your printed registration is not required for entry. There will be electronic in sheet upon entry daily.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you can update the registration form at anytime.

Is my registration fee transferrable?

Yes, your regisration fee is transferable to another individual from that same instituation. It can also be transfered to a future date, should that date have space availability.

Is it ok if the name on my registration doesn't match the person who attends?

No, the name on the ticket/ registration must match.

What should I wear?

Comfy clothes, there will be wet labs to follow.
