What are the descriptions of the Kata Exercise Deep Dive activities?

When you check out, please make sure to choose one of the following:

  • Clint Morey (Whirlpool): "KATA Outside of the Office Environment" Learn and experience in this one-hour breakout session the "Simple CI" approach Whirlpool Corporation uses to engage the workforce in continuous improvement and develop scientific thinking. "Simple CI" combines the frameworks of Shingo, Kata and A3 thinking to create a unique system that has simplified CI implementation for Whirlpool. Participants will leave this hands-on session understanding the "Simple CI" approach for applying Kata anywhere on any service.
  • Steve Kane (Gemba Academy): "Internalizing the Coaching Kata" Move beyond the questions on the Kata card by developing a deeper understanding of both the coaching model and the coach's role. This one-hour session examines our purpose as coaches and provides the opportunity to experience coaching techniques in brief coaching sessions in the roles of coach, learner, and observer (second coach). Participants will come away with a new perspective on Kata thinking and developing learners.
