MIAMI SOUP #5
Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 6:30 PM - Friday, June 26, 2015 at 9:30 PM (EDT)
Join MIAMI SOUP, FilmGate Miami, and Whole Foods Market Downtown Miami for a progressive dinner inside the newly-open Whole Foods Market Downtown Miami. Enjoy live Latin Jazz while moving around the store visiting soup, salad, bread, dessert and wine stations. Mix and mingle with three Miami independent filmmakers including Tina Francisco and Andres Cuervo whose work journals the needs of our community. Their short films will be shown throughout the evening on both levels of Whole Foods Market.
Along with the purchase of the meal, attendees receive a vote to cast in favor of their favorite filmmaker/project. Your ticket purchase becomes part of the income to grant one of the three filmmakers funds to continue their social good efforts.
MIAMI SOUP is more than food for thought because it enables ideas to be transformed into reality and empowers positive change in a single neighborhood. This is MIAMI SOUP's fifth program since launching two years ago.
FilmGate Miami supports the needs of local producers, directors, film lovers, and tech junkies by hosting monthly events including StoryCode, I'm Not Gonna Move to L.A., Learn Do Share, Craft Specific Workshops, Special Screenings and FilmGate Interactive.
When & Where
MIAMI SOUP is an intentionally simple and non-bureaucratic format for the implementation of change at the local level. The setting of a shared meal encourages the open exchange of ideas, the vision for doing, and the funding to make it happen. MIAMI SOUP not only raises money, it provides the pathway to build a network of support that reaches beyond purely monetary assistance. It is “friendraising” at best. Think of MIAMI SOUP as an open platform to discuss new and ongoing projects with audiences, meet new collaborators, and share ways of working together to transform ideas into reality. MIAMI SOUP convicts ideas to elevate the quality of neighborhood living. MIAMI SOUP is supported by the Knight Foundation.
