What is it?
Our Florida is changing. New immigrants, women, youth, Latinos, Blacks and communities of color represent the changing face of changing demographic. We hope to come together, bridge sectors and silos, and connect our strengths with our opportunities to realize the power this changing majority.
This event will be a powerful space to bring community organizations, social service providers, government, artists, health and education professionals, faith leaders, labor and other allies together to connect our different strengths with opportunities. Asset Mapping challenges the idea that our communities are filled with only deficits by looking at what is working and to provide a resource map for new and deeper collaboration. We hope that all of our” organizations, institutions, and individuals will be more empowered and informed to move our efforts, campaigns, and projects.
Who is it and why?
You have been invited because we believe that your institution and or you as a leader are an important asset in Miami-Dade County. Your experience, networks, and knowledge are an important contribution to the overall ‘map’ that we’re trying to develop together. We know that there is also power in our connectedness. The diversity of Miami’s communities are our strengths: African-American and Caribbean communities, Latinos, Women, Newer Immigrants, and Young People. These constituencies are the bedrock of our communities in Miami Dade, and we will together begin connecting the dots of how are differences and commonalities can connect, combine, and converge. Join with faith, service, government, culture, labor, youth and community organizations to connect our community’s assets with opportunities, help to bridge silos and work across sectors towards creating a new Miami.
When is it?
The Regional Asset Mapping will take place on Friday February 21st, 9:30am – 3:30pm as part of a weekend of social justice activities.
