Operations and Planning for All-Hazards Events

Hosted by the Department Of Emergency Management at

1011 Turk Street, San Francisco

December 13-15, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day

 

Course Length: Three days (24 hours)

Course Overview: The EOC course offers participants insight into, and practical experience with, emergency management and decision-making skills necessary to effectively manage an EOC and the overall response to a large-scale Type 3 or 2 and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)/terrorism incident or all-hazard event utilizing the MACS.

The EOC course is 24 hours in length, with decision-based exercises comprising 8 of the 24 hours. This course will develop and reinforce emergency management, situational awareness, information management, resource management, and decision-making skills for course participants. The course adapts existing emergency management [National Incident Management System (NIMS) / Incident Command System (ICS)] procedures to the unique requirements of EOC operations.

Scope:
The course offers the opportunity for participants to practice emergency management and to gain practical experience in individual and group processes necessary to manage an EOC. Each participant will gain a better understanding of the management requirements and skills necessary to effectively coordinate and support the response

Participant Audience: Emergency responders, supervisors, and managers from the following disciplines/services:

  • Non-governmental Organizations

  • Military

Prerequisites: Participants must be actively employed, or tasked to work in an EOC and must have completed the following courses:

  • ICS 100 - Introduction to Incident Command System
  • ICS 200 - ICS for Single Resource (Basic ICS)
  • ICS 300 - ICS for Expanding Incidents (Intermediate ICS)
  • IS-700 - Introduction to the National Incident Management System
  • IS-701 - National Incident Management System Multi-Agency Coordination System
  • IS-800 - Introduction to the National Response Framework
  • IS-775 Role of the Emergency Operations Center in Community Preparedness, Response & Recovery
