Event description

Description

Location: Gallatin Gateway
Miles/Difficulty: 6 miles/Moderate
Leaders: Patti Steinmuller and Donna Murphrey

Beginning hikers, families, and others will enjoy this pleasant walk through sagebrush filled meadows with panoramic views of the Gallatin and Madison Mountain ranges. We’ll use a short car shuttle to start our loop, beginning at the Dailey Creek trailhead in the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park and ending at the Teepee Creek trailhead in the adjacent Custer Gallatin National Forest. Teepee Creek is located within the Hyalite Porcupine Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area, an important roadless area between Bozeman and the Park that has potential for wilderness designation. Teepee Creek is included in the Custer Gallatin Forest Plan revision.

Meet at the parking lot behind Buffalo Jump Sports Bar, 75770 Gallatin Rd, Gallatin Gateway at the junction of Hwy 191 and Cottonwood Rd, one mile south of the Gallatin Gateway Inn
