Event description

I will hold various information sessions leading up to the event but feel free to reach out with questions before then via the "contact" link below or via my website.

Mexico is probably my favorite country to visit and I've been at least 7 or 8 times, including two separate trips for Day of the Dead festivities. The food is amazing, the people are friendly, and the diversity of landscape (desert, mountain, jungle, beach) and things to do (dance, scuba dive, bike, visit pyramids) is seemingly never-ending.

This trip will also include the option of several 15-20 mile bike rides around Mexico City, which offers some very nice bike lanes and shuts down some streets to cars on Sundays. In order to maximize time, we'll mostly take public transportation and cars within and between cities.

The exact itinerary is still being developed, here are some of the proposed activities for a 7-day itinerary. The proposed trip date is October 31 - November 7. A 4-day weekend trip is also an option.

- Day of the Dead festivities in cemeteries and the public square

- Frida Khalo's house

- Diego Rivera Museum

- Bike tour of city visiting the central historic zone and ruins

- Day trip to the Sun and Moon pyramids

- Central de Alabastos - an enormous food and produce marketplace

- "Witches market"

- Canal boat tour of Xochimilco, the "Venice of Mexico" including mariachi boats, food boats, and beer boats

- Day trip to Tepoztlan, a hippie city with great hiking, spas, and native sweat lodges (complete with a shaman!)

- Anthropology Museum

- Parque Garibaldi (mariachi musician park)

- Lucha Libre wrestling match

Additional day trips for travelers with more time:

- Day trip to Cuernavaca, the city of "eternal spring" to visit hot springs

- Day trip to Puebla for culture, hiking, incredible food, and visiting small towns

- Additional day of biking around Mexico City
