The Akilah Institute for Women cordially invites you to spend an inspirational evening with special guests from Kigali, Rwanda. Many young Rwandan women are survivors of the 1994 genocide which ripped apart the country for 100 days. Akilah students, many of whom are heads of households, grew up without the guidance of elders or mentors. They have forged their own paths and overcome tremendous obstacles. Akilah has transformed the lives of these young women by empowering them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to find meaningful employment and to serve as leaders in their communities.
Two of our students, Allen and Noella, are making the journey from Rwanda to the United States for the first time to meet supporters and share their life-changing experiences at Akilah. Come meet them and learn more about the work of Akilah! All proceeds from the evening will support the Akilah Institute for Women, a registered 501c3 nonprofit. This event is one of many the students will be attending during their 10 weeks in the US. We also have events in Tampa, Chicago, Seattle San Francisco-Bay Area, New York, Providence, Boston, Philadelphia and D.C.
