Event description

Description

Precinct caucuses are meetings organized by Minnesota’s political parties to begin the process of selecting candidates for the 2016 election. In addition, people who attend caucuses can influence the issues their party will stand for by offering resolutions. Caucuses allow ordinary people to influence the priorities of the political parties here in Minnesota. Caucuses are held in locations across Minnesota, are open to the public, and participation is encouraged.

At the Caucus 101 Training, you’ll learn:

  • What a precinct caucus is and why it is important
  • What to expect when you attend your caucus
  • How to write a resolution and get it passed
  • How to stay involved by becoming a delegate for local and state-wide conventions

The caucus training will be led by Metropolitan State University professors:

  • Dr. Kathleen Cole
  • Dr. Shaun Williams-Wyche
  • Dr. Andrew Fay
