Event description

Description

Dana McCoy (DanaMcCoy.com) is a Grammy-nominated Berklee graduate whose songs have topped charts worldwide, and who has performed her songs and original rock musicals internationally.

McCoy specializes in developing original musicals. Consequently, she writes, directs, performs as an actor, singer, instrumentalist, and dancer, and teaches each of these disciplines.

It was Harvey Keitel who, captivated by a performance of McCoy’s at a club in NYC, was concerned that she couldn’t remember much of what happened during the show due to debilitating stage fright. He brought her to his acting coach, Marcia Haufrecht of the Actor’s Studio. McCoy studied Method Acting with her for ten years, and found the work did, as Keitel suggested, deeply inform her music and musical performance.

This workshop will explore the purpose and intent of the music that the artist is playing, bringing the instrumentalist beyond the notes, beyond musical technique.
