A low tide will allow us to visit a secluded and quiet beach with beautiful and little known outcrops of limestone and marble at Marshall Beach (NOT the small hamlet of Marshall along Highway 1). At McClures Beach, we will examine gneiss which formed during deep burial under conditions of high temperature and pressure. These two locations expose some of the oldest rocks at Point Reyes and in the Bay Area.

Instructed by John Karachewski
