Metal Shop 101 w/ Jim
Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 PM - Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2:00 AM (EST)
New York, NY
Metal Shop 101 is a basic shop tools class that covers alittle bit of everything we have to offer, in the way of welding and metal shop access.
Learn the difference between the MIG and the TIG welders and what they can do. Use the bandsaw, the chop saw, and the cut-off wheel on the angle grinder. Try out the mill and the drill press, the sawz-all, the plasma cutter. The plasma cutter is an amazing tool. Use the bench grinder and wire wheel. Marvel at our amazing array of fasteners.
We even have this relic called a "corded drill". You can use that too! Jim will also show you super basic things like clamps and measuring. You point to it, and if it's in working condition*, Jim will show you how to use it.
Learn here, hands on, that when someone says there's a right tool for every job, they aren't just blowing smoke up your skirt.
This class is $50 for 3 hours. No materials fee. Just use our scrap.
*Lets face it folks--this shop practically runs itself. Some things don't work. But most things do. This is like a museum of s-crap mixed with tools. No promises, no guarantees, except that you'll have a blast!
