Reception immediately following
Westwood Presbyterian Church proudly announces the upcoming performance of Handel’s MESSIAH. The audience is invited to sing along with the choruses of the Christmas portion of George Frideric Handel's magnificent oratorio, composed in 1741, including the rousing and immediately recognizable "Hallelujah” Chorus. Westwood Presbyterian Church is an intimate stone-walled Gothic basilica of unusual beauty and resonance, adding to the luster of the sound.
The Westwood Presbyterian Church Master Choir, Westwood Chamber Orchestra and following soloists will perform: Christina Borgioli, soprano; Nandani Maria Sinha, mezzo soprano; Adam von Almen, tenor; Larry Duplechan, tenor; Dimitri Smith, baritone; Matthew Lewis, bass-baritone; all under the direction of Conductor and Music Director Maria Newman. Newman is well-known as a composer and performer around the world, and is the co-founder of the Malibu Friends of Music and resident composer at the Montgomery Arts House for Music and Architecture (MAHMA).
There will be a reception following the concert, which is included in the ticket price. Bring your own score, or purchase one at the door for $10. Admission is $10 for adults. Under 18 years of age as well as any students (with ID) are admitted free. Parking is also available free on-site and reimbursed by voucher at the iPic/AVCO theater parking structure next door.
